iPod program helps school test scores

This is interesting – especially since we’re talking grade three where reading skills are still quite nascent:

iPod program helps school test scores
Oregon third graders’ reading and math results benefit from iPod Touch access.

Check out the charts in ths posting at O’Reilly: “The charts compare the performance of third graders throughout the Canby school district with those whose classroom used iPod Touches throughout the year. As you can see in the chart below, the number of students that meet or nearly meet the math requirements on a standardized test are much higher for the iPod Touch classroom (left circle).” The differences were even greater (better) for students with disabilities and autism spectrum or from migrant or economically disadvantaged homes.

Cool. I love these early stage comparator studies that seek to prove or disprove the impact and value of new technolgies or teaching methods.
