Social Media Before the Internet

Check out this Infographic that Gary pointed at. I think that it’s a little too big to embed here so you’ll need to click and link:

“This infographic from the Skloog blog is loaded with interesting and useful information (with citations at the bottom) about the development of social media and social media providers.

The infographic also includes mentions of what some might call “early” social networking tools including the telegraph, telephone, radio, and the first postal service that’s dated to 550 B.C. Rome. Wikipedia calls it the first “well-documented” postal service (no cite provided) but others existed before this time.”
