Here is an interesting perspective on potential scenarios for Google+ as a social layer.

I am interested to see what happens with creative libraries when Google+ opens up beyond individuals and lets enterprises like libraries in. I see some opportunity in circles to build book, reading, teen, gaming or genealogy clubs and parent/tots reading time groups and more. I see some opportunity to run reference using the Chatroulette-like Google+ Hangout or Google Chat. There’s a lot of room for innovation and experimentation here for non-risk-averse libraries and librarians to play.
I also see some hope in the real identity rules to temper some of the wild west in Google+ that can be found in other social networks. I wonder if library cards could be used for identity management?
And, I worry that Google is controlling too much. Do I really want to lose my gmail, blog, YouTube and more completely for some potential quixotic violation of the Google+ identity or other policies?

I so agree dear Stephen!
Ok, I’ve just returned from Seattle for the Google Teacher Academy and I’m an admitted fangirl of all things Googles… HOWEVER, I don’t like how you have to link a YouTube account to an email address. Cause my principal wants me to create a YouTube channel for my school…what do I do? Create a new gmail account for it? Use one of mine? It’s already a pain that I have to log out of one gmail for my school blog & log into another one for my professional blog… That having been said, I do love Google+. I trust it more. Facebook & their privacy issues has always left me suspicious.
I worry that I might be falling out of love with Google. I like their stuff, but I’m afraid that in their great mission to not be evil, they’ve slipped into the trap of being greedy. Very, very greedy. Now Google understands just how rich they can become by using very clever marketing. The more information they collect about each of us, the more accurate the profile that Google has of us. Google will know what we like, when we like it. And they will sell that to advertisers who will pay an awful lot of money to know what products I’m definitely going to buy this month, and what products I might buy if I’m in the right mood – and yes, Google will be able to tell them when I’m in the right mood – I’m sure there will be a tool in Google+ that is irresistible to the user and very informative to Google and its clients. It’s clever. It’s insidious. It may not be evil, but I don’t like it.
The two previous comments couldn’t have said it better.
