Value of Australian Public Libraries

I think I might have blogged about these studies previously but I wanted to get them both into a posting for my memory usage. I’m old and I forget stuff ;-). It’s always get to get some non-North American perspectives too.

Enriching communities: The value of public libraries in New South Wales (2008)
http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/services/public_libraries/publications/docs/enriching_communities.pdf
This research uses a methodology for calculating BOTH the economic activity and the economic benefit a library generates for its community.

Dollars, sense and public libraries: The landmark study of the socio-economic
value of Victorian public libraries
(2011)
This report used economic modelling to demonstrate the economic benefits of public libraries in Victoria (Australia)

The growing corpus of library value studies is wonderful. Now let’s mine the soundbites and stories to with them.
