3D Printing of Books

I love this new technology. What will they think of next?  This 3D printing tech sector is just inventing new and exciting things all the time.

Several companies are making and marketing the ability to make 3D copies of books!  Right in the library or at retail locations that are springing up all over the place.  All you need to do is find a book you want to read – in hard copy or a digital copy on the Interwebs – and send it to the machine and your copy is made!  Then you have an exact copy of the book that you can read ANYWHERE!  You don’t  need a device like a laptop, tablet, smartphone or an e-reader – just pick it up and read!!  This is so totally awesome.  I hear they’re even offering colour copies.

Could this be the end of libraries?  I’ll bet there will be some horrible copyright battles over this technology.  Libraries better get on the ball and see if we can adapt this this threat.

Here’s how it works:

Here’s one library that’s already training their students to use the technology by video.

What will be next – home copies of Hollywood movies?

And it’s finally April and sunny outside.
