Openness and the Library Experience
by Stephen Abram

“What is open? In order to be embedded librarians, it is less than debatable that information professionals must be open-minded and open to new experiences. On a personal basis I have had many conversations with embedded librarians who report that the experience is, in addition to being a growth experience, also quite enjoyable, professionally satisfying and exciting. They also note that it can be uncomfortable, ambiguous and, sometimes, less than secure but with more upside potential for their career and compensation.”

How open can we be?

Hope you like it.

Stephen

    Stephen,

Can you write an article about Librarians using Meetup social networking software to create social connection and library advocacy? This link shows a list of active Library Meetup groups throughout the world: http://librarians.meetup.com/

I live in Bellevue, WA and the only one in my area is targeted to IA and Usability Professionals with (librarians) as a subgroup.
