I am intrigued by the emerging trend for librarians to, well, meet up, through Meetup.com. You can find an overview on the homepage:
There’s even a special page (and map) on Meetup.com for librarians . . .:
Librarians Meetup Groups
Meet other local Librarians to discuss new books, trends, funding, and to have fun!
It doesn’t have to be about libraries and this might be a way for you to connect users to experiences beyond books for their hobbies, support and other interests.
I’ll admit that I haven’t attended one yet but probably will.
Here’s one web-based tool that encourages face-to-face conversations – blended social networking.
Now, connect this to Twitter and Foursquare and Facebook and things get really interesting . . .!
Geekin’ out.
