Lord knows I submit audiences to death by PowerPoint many times a month. I try to be good by choosing interesting graphics and images aligned with my messages but I always felt that there must be better (newer) ways to do slides.

Lately I’ve been seeing presenters usng Prezi and I am on the path to learn that new system. I am impressed by the way it works, the fact that you’re not restriced to actual slides, and the ability to fisheye in one part so the screen (like website screen captures) that direc the audience’s attention to the right place. All in all I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen.

Here’s a one minute overview of Prezi:

PowerPoint has some add-ons that can add some of these features. The one that has been recommended to me PowerPoint Plus (?) so I may try that one too.

There’s my thing to learn by September.

  1. There heard of powerpoint plus.

    Do you mean pptplex?

i have used this a few times, like it better than prezi as it’s easier to use.

  2. Thanks Aaron. I might have misheard. I downloaded pptPlex and I’ll watch the videos and give it a try.

  3. I have an upcoming presentation on social media for a mixed audience (i.e. from beginners to advanced) so have been thinking using Prezi might be a way of engaging everyone–for those who are advanced, at least I could entertain them if nothing else! And possibly build in some additional detail for answering advanced questions.

  4. If you’re interested in learning how to use Prezi and use it well I suggest Ned Potters guide to it. He has some of the best Prezi’s I’ve seen
