50 Year Anniversary

On Sept. 6, 2010 at 9 a.m. EDST we will celebrate the 50th aniversary of Stephen Abram entering Grade 1. (Sept. 6, 1960 was the Tuesday after Labour Day and the CNE (or ‘The Ex’ to Torontonians) had just closed the previous night.) This was my first full time position after half-day kindergarten. I recall being excited and worried that I couldn’t read quite yet. I am pretty sure I had new shoes and new school clothes and looked pretty sparky with a humongous head on a tiny, skinny, little boy with a brush cut. I think that from now on I’ll measure my progress from Sept. 6, 1960.
