This is often one of those questions that bedevils everyone.
It ranks up there with which is greener:
1. Real or artificial Christmas trees?
2. Paper or plastic bags?
3. Disposable or Reusable bags?
It’s not easy to make a clear determination.
Anyway, check out this analysis from TechSoup for Libraries:
Are E-Readers Greener than Books?
“The question is: are e-readers greener than books? The answer is yes, if you buy and read lots of books, but no if you read less frequently or use your public library.”
Following the logic, there’s a difference between saving trees, using non-renewable energy supplies differently, or creating toxic waste that might damage the air and /or water. And your volume affects the results of your personal footprint.
The truly green thing to do is to use your library.
Choose your poison.
