SirsiDynix Institute on Social Bookmarking

Rachel is a great speaker and you’ll love this session.
A Little More Help from your Friends: Social Bookmarking
Date : Nov 13, 2007
Start Time : 11 a.m. Eastern
Length : 01:00:00
Is there a better way to bookmark? This question has inspired many of us to turn to social bookmarking as a method of keeping track of favorite websites. But if we’re having a hard time keeping track of our own information, can adding a social element possibly help the situation? And aren’t tags just a messier way of organizing information? Whether “folksonomy” is Greek to you or you’ve been tagging your bookmarks in del.icio.us since back in the day, this session will deliver insight into the broad concepts involved with social classification as well as examining nuts-and-bolts practical applications.

    Dear Mr. Abram:
Santa Clara County Library uses SirsiDynix. We wish to add commenting (patron reviews), tagging, and patron ratings to the web catalog. I understand that Innovative libraries can use Encore to add these features to their web catalogs. Does SirsiDynix offer catalog upgrade opportunities? I appreciate your assistance.
    Sincerely,
    Allison Parham

Yep – we’ve had a number of these for years and EPS’s new version includes more. Also, the BiblioCommons project is quite advanced. I’ll have your sales rep call you.
