You need to look at the entire business model of the printing industry. Ink is not the only thing you need to make a print. Think about how much your printer cost — probably not too much. Think about how much research went into getting good, clear, beautiful marks on paper. Work out what the total cost of printing per page over the life of the machine is. Is it really too much profit, or is it just that it seems to be too expensive when you need to purchase ink?

  2. Sure, but this old argument is apples to oranges. Milliliters of ink could last you weeks or months. Try to get by on just milliliters of water or gasoline…

  3. And people wonder how they can afford to practically give away printers for free. The printer is the first hit, the ink has you hooked and constantly dipping into your line of credit…

  4. I agree with Steve…way too costly which is why I go online to order re-filled cartridges…yes , horror!!! The manufacturer says it will destroy my printer but 5 years later…it still works. And I appreciate the point made by the first commentator but slightly disagree. After 5 years my ink is the same…no upgrades, or new features. So I think I’ve long paid for any investment HP put into it. it really comes down to what the last commentator said
