100 Million People Use Facebook On Their Phone Each Month

I think that when we know Facebook has 400,000,000 users and that now one quarter of them use Facebook on mobile devices and that Facebook is one of the top 10 places on the web that people use every day, then we are well advised to care and nurture our social presence on the web for our libraries.

How healthy is your library’s fan page?

How adept are you ‘socially’ as a friend?

How networked are you as a ‘professional’?

Are you using Facebook politically for library or education funding issues that matter to you?

Are you using Facebook to lobby for policy issues that matter to libraries?

Fear not, there are no absolutely right answers to these questions . . .yet.

I guess we’re all just at different stages of exploration, progress, evolution, development, maturation, addiction, whatever (as you can see, I struggle with the word). I suppose the other choice (avoiding social tools) is whatever the opposite of learning, play, development, etc. is (perhaps perfect satisfaction with the present state of affairs).
