Is there a citation for all this “now public” stuff? Some evidence I can verify for myself? When I look for a friend who has employed the existing privacy settings, Google doesn’t turn up this information. Where’s the evidence of all this? I’m not disbelieving it, but I’d like some means to verify it.

MoveOn says your birthday, etc. is public, but the facebook policy they quote says it’s not public. Though, I’m not sure I really speak facebook-ese, so perhaps I’m overlooking something.
Rochelle: I think there might be a difference between what is public to the general public and what is public to advertisers and SEO types (and SMO – social media optimizers).
