Google’s History of Acquisitions

This list is pretty complete. From a library perspective it is interesting to see the balance of acquisitions that support online content, search and/or advertising. It is quite a different mix versus library user priorities. Libraries ignore ads and try to focus on the user experience and content. We share the concern for search and retrieval although we likely have different opinions of ‘relevance’ in algorithms. As for content it is a big difference in user generated content volume and selection of content that is fit for purpose.
