AnnaLaura Brown at the Social Networking and Libraries blog has listed her choices of good Facebook presences for libraries. It’s probably a good thing to get a list of some examples to check out (and purloin the best ideas from).
10 Great Library Facebook Fan Pages
Here’s who list:
1. Geek the Library (Ohio)
2. The Huntington Library and Gardens
3. The Billy Graham Library
4. Columbus Metropolitan Library
5. Jehovah’s Witness library
6. Library of Congress
7. Multnomah County Library
8. New York Public Library
9. San Francisco Public Library
10. Salt Lake City Public Library
What one’s do you think are good?
I’d add a few smaller or non-US (single branch or huge network even) libraries:
Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Darien Library
Ottawa Public Library
Toronto Public Library
Edmonton Public Library
Every size library can do this and innovate in phases.
Leave a name and link of your choices or your library in the comments.
And if you need help, all Gale widgets can be embedded in your Facebok presence. Many libraries have added API code to allow for OPAC searching from within their Facebook presence too. Ask to copy and edit that code.

Just for my ego. The Municipal Library of Akureyri in Iceland has around 900 fans and I think it’s great for a small public library.
