INFLUENCERS FULL VERSION from R+I creative on Vimeo.
Libraries are a very misunderstood ‘brand’. In some respects we are that “book, books and nothing but books” image and positioning. How do we make the library brand broader in our users’ consciousness?
Do we understand the influencers in libraryland?
Who among our users are influencers?
Understanding influencers and harnessing their ability to bring things to the mainstrream consciousness would be great for libraries.
I was once involved with a number of studies of opinion leaders. Who are the library opinion leaders – those who infuence library folk and those who influence broader social networks?

Terrific post on Influencers! An additional couple of points would be; be clear about the messages you want to impart to the influencer, don’t whine about money, focus on all the value adds that libraries bring to the table and if possible bring the influencer to the library to see today’s library. It is much more than books!!
Looking at the individuals influencers and their particular networks is a strategic move. Feed the influencers succinct information, track their networks, and connect with them on a regular basis. Excellent post! Thanks for sharing your insight!
