Here’s a metaphor.
Will e-books affect library circulation in the same way? Or, will strategies be developed by working with all parties (authors, publishers, aggregators, libraries and users) to create and experiment with new models.
The music industry was the author of its own issues, in much the same manner that US auto manufacturers ignored foreign competition. Libraries have adapted to a lot of changes over time. Will this adaptive power and innovation continue?
It seems that the best strategies might be more sophisticated and start in a better place than boycotts.
