The 2011 Mind-Set of Faculty (Born Before 1980)

Check it out. I find it a little edgy and possibly a little more GenX than Boomer in tone. It lacks the playfulness of the Beloit lists but it represents a prevailing point of view in some academic institutions. It seems like a symptom of some folks who cast about for blame but maybe I’m reading to much into this as a humour piece. I worry that there are generational wars going on that exceed the old 60’s “generation gap”.
I did like number 22:
“21. The “you” that is you will eventually become the “they” that is us.”
I wonder how one encourages an academic culture that breeds respect across the generations. I see and hear too much that is angry and disillusioned.
