LinkedIn

I’ve been on LinkedIn for quite a while. It’s different than Facebook and MySpace since it seems to cover all kinds of professionals including the media better. It’s the one I think shows the most potential for special librarians like my fellow SLA members. LinkedIn, the social network for business professionals, has growing demand from advertisers and will launch an ad network on Monday. As a consequence the kimono robe opened a little wider and we can glance into the nature of LinkedIn members.
Check out this TechCrunch posting here. (Lots of graphs and charts)
This is an interesting user group. For public sector libraries I’ll wager that many politicians and reporters that might be desirable strategic contacts are in this service.

I was just looking for an SLA group on LinkedIn yesterday, and there were several of them! Do you know if any one is the one I should join, or are SLA members fractured through all of them?

All different, I suspect, given divisions and chapters etc. SLA is pretty diverse.
