Here’s an article from the NYT that covers some research that shows that poor neighbourhoods that have branch libraries do better healthwise and bother bad effects during heat waves, extreme cold and weather didasters and floods.
I am so glad that Toronto Public Libraries are legally designated heating and cooling centres during bad weather. Helps everyone!
