“Building on a 2013 Ithaka S+R report, this paper examines in depth the status of the research on learning outcomes associated with online and hybrid courses since 2013. This report begins by discussing prior efforts to survey the literature on online learning. Next, it offers the first summary and analysis of the research produced since 2013. The main body of the report concludes by examining potential avenues for improvement, emphasis, and future research.”
