Ontario/Canada Colleges and Layoffs

We’re not going to get ahead of our international competition with this bloodbath.

1. We need people educated for the jobs that will exist.
2. A lot of manufacturing and trades jobs are challenged by robotics and AI. That needs more qualified talent.
3. Feds: Fix the student visa issue.
4. Ontario: Fundit properly now.
5. Higher education is not nostalgia, it is our future.

Over the past month, hashtag#CdnPSE has reported more than 1,000 more jobs lost (through attrition, layoff, or early retirement), bringing my total to 12,034. I’m trying to capture all full-time or part-time jobs, but I know there are plenty that don’t make my newsfeeds – especially contract and outsourced employees. Unfortunately, the damage of IRCC cuts to study visas will continue to pile up for another year or two.
