Knowledge as a Commodity
by David Worlock
““It’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it”.These days I seem to hear the old song echoing in my ears. “It ain’t what you say it’s the way that you say it…“ Nobody who has lived through the browser wars can be entirely confused by the AI arms race. Nobody who lived through the dotcom boom can be surprised by the raging hype around AI. And for me in particular, , nobody who has lived through “content is king“, survived “content in context is king“, emerged unscathed in “data is the new oil“ can be at all worried by “data as a commodity“. It simply means that anyone who once owned a pile of data of great value. and watched the world beat a path to their door to pay usage fees must now think again: if you wish to hold your audience in place, it has to be with a “data plus” solution.”
