SEFLIN Presentation

I spent some nice time with the SEFLIN board in West Palm Beach.
My presentation was called The Future of Libraries.
They also had the CEO of the World Future Society there. Cool.

  1. I have read this presentation and most of it, to me, is banal rubbish. How do you help those responsible for public libraries to manage their way out of a deep and difficult hole in the ground with this tosh?
Actually it’s worse than that; it seems to me that by talking in the way that you do you are encouraging them to avoid the real problems they face. You have to understand that the future is partly today and starts tomorrow.

Congratulations on a remarkable skill to read PowerPoint slides and view PPT pictures and know what is said and discussed and how I behave in helping libraries. You’re amazing!

  2. So why post it?

Who am I to censor commenters’ opinions? They share them for sharing… right? I only don’t post splog or direct personal threats from blog trolls. Internet comments are forever. I keep a collection of interesting web and blog postings, comments, etc. for a master’s course I teach at university and library leadership camps about information sector ethics and professional publishing behaviours. It generates wonderful debates among the students when I can use real life situations.
