The Hollywood Librarian

Well this will be the be-there-or-be-square event at ALA in DC in June!
The premiere of “The Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians Through Film” will take place in Washington, D.C. on Friday, June 22nd during the ALA Conference.
All librarians are welcome to attend this free event, it is not limited to conference attendees (but of course you won’t miss ALA Conference and the Expo.
The venue will be the Washington Convention Center, Hall D, where doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with a red carpet walk. The film premiere begins at 8:00 p.m. This is a free event, black tie optional.
Hmmmm – maybe I’ll wear Halston… Let’s hope it makes CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, even Fox!
You can watch a trailer of this film by Ann Seidl here.
See you there. Wanna share a limo?

  1. Actually, this event is open to conference attendees and staff who work at D.C.-area libraries. I’ve heard that they will be checking badges and IDs at the door. JFYI.

Stephen: I watched the preview, and the movie looks interesting, but I have one concern. Did Ms Seidl interview any librarians between the ages of 25-40? Her interview demographic looks quite skewed towards us old-timers, which would be serious cause for concern. Is it only established librarians who think this is a great profession? I hope the preview is not indicative of the average age of librarians she interviewed for what sounds like a great film. Any chance it will be screened in Denver?
    Randy:
I don’t know. Its premiere is at ALA so I doubt we’ll get a preview in Denver at SLA. I hope to see it to know if it’s fair and balanced. I suspect that, like all libraries, there wll be something to offend everyone!
