CNN Anchor Humour

So, there I was on Friday sitting in the Huntsville Alabama airport and watching the CNN Airport channel on the TV. The two anchors were having a conversation and reporting the news:
Anchor #1: “The parties have said that they are engaging in a dialogue.”
Anchor #2: “Yes, But so far it appears that they are simply talking.”
This is what passes for fine reporting today. I was giggling but no one arouund me seemed to notice the funny part about this exchange.

    Isn’t it frustrating when no one around you gets the joke? I think a shared sense of humor is the best indicator of whether two or more people can successfully work together.
    On the other hand, if you think about this for a minute, it’s a very profound statement.
