4 Very Interesting Statistics

I saw these 4 interesting statistics while I was in the mountains for the past few weeks. They are indicative of a lot, and maybe nothing…
1. “Cellular phone technology has now spread so far and gotten so cheap that likely more than half of humanity use cell phones. There are now 4.1 billion mobile subscriptions in the world, a global penetration rate of 61.1 percent: This compares to 1.270 billion fixed line subscribers, corresponding to a penetration rate of 18.9 percent.” (more here)
2. “Internet usage still hasn’t quite reached a quarter of the world’s population. The survey, by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), an agency of the UN, also found that nearly a quarter of the world’s 6.7 billion people use the internet.” That’s why phones with internet access are the global killer app. (more here)
3. Facebook’s growth does not appear to be slowing and it is now growing at more than 700,000 users per day! (more here) It now has 10% of the global internet population.
4. In the past 12 weeks that fastest growing category in the Apple iTunes App Store has been . . . . . .BOOKS! (more here).
Things that make you go hmmmm.

Really? If it wasn’t interesting you wouldn’t have commented or invested the energy. You got engaged. If it was truly uninteresting you would have just moved on.
