SLA Centennial Conference

Of course I’ll be at the SLA Centennial Conference in DC in June. As 2008 President of SLA last year I was to busy to attend too many programs. This year I am sure to attend a few and this one from LMD (The SLA Leadership and Management Division) is already on my registration.
The LMD Think Tank was a huge success with teh participants last year and LMD is holding it again on Saturday June 13th at the Annual Conference (only $299 for members!) Ticketed Event #280
In Tom Kolditz’ book, “In Extremis Leadership: Leading as if Your Life Depending on It,” speaks of how, in dangerous or uncertain times, the #1 thing followers look for in their leaders is competence, and their trust depends on that competence being demonstrated. Sydney Finkelstein, talks about how good managers make bad decisions when they ignore certain warning signals. The Think Tank addresses these and other issues that information professionals who work with leaders or who are in leadership positions themselves need to grapple with.
The faculty is a real set of leaders who share their perspectives with the participants in an interactive way.
