Dealing With Criticism

I’ve had my fair share of criticism – some constructive and waranted and some just plain mean.

I really appreciated this post from Doug Johnson at Blue Skunk blog:

A Thick Skin

If you want to enact and encourage change, you basically cannot avoid criticism. I like the graphic in the post:

If you want to avoid criticism: “Do nothing, say nothing, be nothing” (Elbert Hubbard)

I liked this quote since those who pride themselves on never being crticized are really demonstrating that they aren’t making the most of their lives to have an impact by changing things for the better.

Then again, it still seems that a leather hide is never thick enough.

  1. Thanks for the link, Stephen. Coming from you it means a lot. I’ve had another chance to practice my own advice these past couple months with our change over of e-mail to GoogleDocs for Education!
