Actually, it is pretty close to the truth. And the cartoonist assumes the patron is somewhat tech-savvy. The “average” patron would probably give up somewhere after Step 8. And let’s not even go into patrons who may not have a newer computer or a good/fast Internet connection in order to do all that downloading. That cartoon says a lot more than just DRM problems.
