While I was in Australia I was honoured to be invited to give a public lecture at Geelong Regional Library.
There were a great group of Geelong citizens and library staff there for the evening event and it was great fun.
Here are the slides:

Hi Stephen
Thanks for posting these slides. I was one of the very lucky people there on Tuesday night. I remembered the word “rollercoaster” from the promotional material, and that’s what it was like – a succession of startling ideas and surprising data.
I learned something else important from the night (I’ve never Tweeted a lecture before!). Because of its restrictions, Twitter is a fabulous tool for learning. Trying to summarise your main points during the lecture, not only did I have to focus very closely on what you were saying, but I also had to put these ideas into very few words. That meant looking at some ideas from a different angle, sifting less important points, and then trimming it all down to that annoying 140 character limit! And I have the tweets as a personal summary (and now the slides!).
Thanks for such a rewarding evening.
