Colour e-Paper

“Fujitsu is showing a new color e-paper eReader prototype – with a 4096 colors, 8″ display (157 PPI that offers 8:1 contrast ratio. This is a linux-based system with a new fast processor (refresh rate of 0.7 seconds) and ePub and PDF support. It weights only 220 grams.” (source)

I don’t know but I question if colour e-paper is beyond it’s best before date. Will it be overwhelmed by tablets or foldable / bendable screens?

I do know that colour is hugely important, especially for children’s books, magazines, non-fiction, textbooks, etc. The old B&W e-paper is OK for fiction and a few documents like some government PDF’s and corporate reports. Innovation isn’t over yet in this space by a long shot.

  1. Not bad. I’d buy one. But then again, maybe I should wait till a better model comes out. How much would this retail for?
