Library Sleepovers

I always loved the libraries that offered sleepovers for kids in the library. I wished my kids were young enough and I’d take them.  I’ve seen this at our local museums too – sleep overnight with the mummies.  (Awesome – maybe you can borrow a mummy?)

Anyway, here’s a great idea via Michael Sauers that doesn’t require you to stay overnight in your library:

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

“This is one of the few children’s programs that made me wish I worked in a public library. Children bring their stuffed animals to the library, do a story time in their pajamas, and then leave their animals behind for a library sleepover. In the morning typically there are wonderful photos of what the animals did overnight. However, Lawrence Public Library in Lawrence, KS recently did one better and created a video during the event. I present it to you here in all its Internet meme glory.” (37 seconds)

Kids will love to see that their stuffies have tea or dance parties in the middle of the night while they sleep.  Encourage the imagination!
