Artist Ekaterina Panikanova loves books, and not just for reading. She uses them as canvases for her fascinating paintings.

The results are beautiful, but because the canvases allow for the pictures to be rearranged as Panikanova sees fit, they are also often eerie, surreal and dark, which she uses to her benefit to combine images of childhood and mental illness into uniquely disturbing masterpeices.

This disjointed feeling is further enhanced by the words and pictures on the books that are left showing through Panikanova’s artwork.”
