Once again this fall, the San Jose State University is once again bringing information professionals from around the world together for an inspiring discussion about the future of libraries in the 21st century during the Library 2.014 Worldwide Virtual Conference.  And it’s free! The Library 2.014 conference is scheduled for October 8–9, 2014, and will be held entirely online in multiple time zones with presentations delivered in multiple languages. This free conference thrives on the research and knowledge shared by the international library and information science community. As a member of our school’s Program Advisory Committee, I would be most appreciative if you could reach out to your networks and help spread the word. There are many ways to get involved and participate in this global conference. Please encourage your contacts to:

  • Submit a presentation proposal. This year’s conference features six subject strands trending in the information professions. The deadline to submit proposals is September 15, 2014.
  • Nominate keynote speakers. The keynote speakers lead the global conversation, inspiring an international audience of information professionals.
  • Volunteer to help moderate the live sessions. The conference is held entirely online via Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing. Volunteers help the presenters load their slides, moderate the chat box, and provide assistance as needed.
  • Become a conference partner. This conference is totally free thanks to our valued partners and sponsors. In exchange for recognition on the conference website and during the live conference, partners and sponsors are asked to actively promote the conference. There are no financial obligations for being a partner organization.

Thank you in advance for reaching out to your networks and helping to promote participation and attendance for the Library 2.014 Worldwide Virtual Conference. This HUGE virtual conference is like Woodstock for librarians.  Please participate, attend or submit a speaking proposal! Stephen
