A new resource from Evidence for Democracy: the Municipal Advocacy Toolkit! Developed in collaboration with the Fonds de recherche du Québec, and Québec’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Rémi Quirion, this toolkit is designed to support researchers and advocates in bringing evidence into local decision-making. It is available in both English and French.
Municipal governments shape our daily lives through decisions on housing, climate, transit, and public health. Yet too often, these decisions are made without systematically drawing on the best available evidence.
That’s why we created the A Researcher’s Guide to Municipal Advocacy: Tools and Tactics for Engaging Local Governments. The toolkit is a practical resource to help researchers and advocates bring science into municipal decision-making. Inside, you’ll find strategies and tools to:
- Understand how municipal governments work
- Build meaningful relationships with local leaders
- Explore ways scientists can collaborate with municipalities
- Communicate evidence effectively for local advocacy
At E4D, our mission is to defend science and ensure evidence is at the heart of decision-making at every level of government. This toolkit is one more step toward making that vision a reality!
Thank you for standing up for science.
Best,
