A UK startup will label books as human-written by providing an “Organic Literature” certification comparable to similar moves in the food industry

Via Semafor:

A UK startup will label books as human-written by providing an “Organic Literature” certification comparable to similar moves in the food industry. AI-created art is a growing problem in creative spheres: AI-generated summaries (or knock-offs) of books are increasingly common on Amazon, WIRED reported, and Spotify removed 75 million spam tracks in the last year. The new initiative, Books By People, founded by a rare-books specialist, will put stamps on books written entirely by humans except for limited tasks such as formatting or idea generation. The first certified book will be Telenovela by Gonzalo C Garcia, about Chile under Pinochet. The publisher Faber had a similar idea in August, applying a “human-written” sticker to one new novel.”
