I often do interviews and conversational strategies to engage communities. One of my favourites (and often the most impactful) is to do them in food banks, shelters, and soup kitchens with the library staff present.  Eye opening, especially in well-off communities with a different narrower, community identity.  Nearly everyone looks like the standard community resident, and nearly everyone uses the library and has a library card.  One resident, without a library card, was getting her library cards with her kids that very afternoon – once she found out everything was free and there were no fines.  Win!
